| Applications
Our
adhesives are used in a vast range of applications.
We have detailed some of the areas below, however if your
particular requirement is not listed, please contact us for
further information, as it is more than likely that a similar
requirement has been solved before.

| Microelectronics

|
Miniaturisation,
precision, speed and high quality are ever-growing requirements:
Innovations in industrial production have changed bonding
technology in the field of microelectronics over the past
few years - and bonding technology has influenced this technological
progress.
DELO adhesives for microelectronics have been proven in various
application areas:
Application examples:

| Mechanical
Engineering

|
By
using adhesives it is possible to save weight and therefore
energy. Because of this, adhesives are continually tested
in fields which were unimaginable a few years ago. In these
fields they would have been exposed to very specific and usually
high mechanical stress - like in mechanical engineering and
plant construction. Exhaustive test methods and standards
certify quality and resistance of the bonded joint.

Metal
Processing

|
Metal
processing has been the exclusive domain of welding and riveting
for many years. Easy processing, durable strength, saving
of weight and energy, as well as aesthetics, have convinced
design engineers to use adhesives in this field. The classic
product groups for metal processing are two-part epoxy
resins and anaerobic curing methacylates.
Recent developments include two-part polyurethanes
.

Adhesives
for electronics - symbiosis of quality and cost efficiency.
Specified cycle times and economic assembley are the main
conditions that design engineers and production planners tackle
within electronics. Individual processes need to be integrated
into in-line production as easily as possible. Therefore,
the best candidates are light-curing adhesives, which cure
by UV or visible light within a few seconds.

Automotive

|
About
15 kgs of adhesive per car are used in todays automotive construction:
Positive effects on safety, vehicle handling characteristics
and driving comfort have been attributed by car manufacturers
to modern adhesives;
- improved
rigidity in construction and therefore
- increased
impact protection
- sound
and vibration deadening and
- reduction
in weight
Just
as importantly, adhesives bring their strength to bear in
a quite inconspicuous way: in automotive electronics. Stringent
requirements in environmental conditions, reliability and
processing mean that new and increasingly effective high-tech
products for the automotive sector are being continuously
developed.
About 25% of research and development resources at DELO is
used for the automotive sector.
Due to the commercial sensitivity of many of these projects
we are unable to share many of them however, some application
areas include:

Plastic
& Glass

|
Joining
methods which cause minimum tension in the bonded parts and
which, most importantly, do not change the optical properties
of glass, are ideal in these applications.
Light-curing adhesives such as DELO-PHOTOBOND
offer clear advantages:
- high-strength
- tension-equalising
- moisture
resistance
- optically
clear
- maximum
ageing resistance to sun-light
- refractive
index similar to glass
In the area of plastic processing, adhesion to different plastics
like PET, PVC, PA, ABS, PC, PMMA, PBT etc. plays an important
part. DELO has developed a wide range of very different products
which can be used for bonding plastics
